BACE has been training and certifying childbirth educators for more than 65 years. Our training program takes a minimum of 6-8 months to complete and educators must recertify every 3 years. When you choose a class taught by a BACE Childbirth Educator, you can rest assured that you will receive the most current evidence-based information about labor, birth and breastfeeding and feel confident in your preparation for your baby’s arrival and the transition to parenthood.

Bec Conant is the founder of Om Births, a yoga and mindfulness based program for pregnant and new parents. Bec offers ONLINE and small group in person classes in Natural Childbirth, Hypnobirthing, Spinning Babies for Parents, Prenatal Yoga, Yoga for Labor, and Postnatal yoga and core reconditioning. Justine Leach is the co-founder of Resilient Birth, an organization offering childbirth education, pregnancy support classes, new parent support groups and consultations for survivors of sexual abuse or other trauma. Her birthing classes attend to your emotional as well as physical journey to parenthood. She understands that stories from our past can impact how we experience pregnancy, birth and parenting, and so new and expectant parents need a safe space to explore the joys and challenges of this journey. In addition to providing evidence based information in preparation for childbirth and beyond, Justine supports participants to form strong and lasting communities.
Wendy Mackey-Kydd, BCCE
Wendy’s work is influence by her foundation in health as a driving factor in all that she does. She completed her Masters’ degree in Health Education at Boston University and provided educational workshops as a Health Educator at Harvard University. She teaches Childbirth classes with an emphasis on the innate ability of women to birth holistically and how that ability can be accessed and encouraged using clear and specific tools. Wendy has taught classes at MIT for over 20 years and seeks to provide the best, most up to date class based on the evolving evidence. She also teaches privately and for organizations such as Lincoln Labs. Classes include Childbirth, Baby Care, Breastfeeding and Postpartum. Wendy also facilitates and develops Parent groups and workshops for clients in the Boston area-both private and corporate/non profit. OFFERING ONLINE CLASSES Shari McBurney is a familiar name in the Eastern Massachusetts birth community: a BACE-certified childbirth educator, member of BACE leadership and certification team, TOLABOR-certified Birth Doula, and Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator. She is a powerful resource for parents and the birth professionals that support them, increasing access to evidence-based information to support participants in navigating the maternity care system from varying perspectives. Shari brings previous professional experience in instructional design and adult learning theory, affording her an engaging style in presenting topics ranging from childbirth education for expectant families to professional mentorship for existent birth professionals.

Kylie O’Donoghue, BCCE

Kylie is a birth doula and childbirth educator committed to helping clients have positive birth experiences and supporting low-intervention births. She believes this happens when birthing individuals feel empowered to advocate for themselves confidently and engage in shared decision-making with their care providers. She began her journey into birth-work in 2018 with a birth doula training and discovered the critical role childbirth education plays in safe and satisfying birth experiences. She is currently enrolled at Boston University School of Public Health working toward her MPH in Maternal and Child Health. Kylie teaches Childbirth Education at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, privately and in groups through her birth business, Sacred Support Doula Services.

Anita has been a childbirth educator since 1995 at Norwood Hospital, teaches weekend classes and refreshers, sibling and private classes. All new parents are welcome.
Kristin has been teaching prepared childbirth classes since 2005. She currently teaches for Winchester Hospital and Concord Hospital in NH, and will be starting at Beverly Hospital this spring. She teaches newborn essentials and prenatal breastfeeding and has a passion for working with couples in the pre and post natal period. She is also a postpartum doula.

Bronwyn Sheppard, MA, CD(DONA), BCCE

Bronwyn is a childbirth educator and birth doula serving pregnant people and partners in the Greater Boston area. She teaches Prepared Childbirth Education, Natural Childbirth Education, Refresher Workshops, and Infant Care at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, in private classes, and in small-group classes in her home in East Boston. She brings her background and education in international/gender development into her curriculum to create an empowering, evidence-based, comprehensive and fun class.
Alyssa teaches childbirth education classes at Relief Parenting Respite and Resource Center in Hampton, NH. She offers group and private Childbirth Education classes that prepare parents for empowering, low-intervention, evidence-based births in hospital, birth center and home settings. Alyssa strives to empower moms and partners to make their own best choices while supporting physiological childbirth. Additionally, Alyssa hosts a local pregnancy and birth support group. She is also the on-site babywearing specialist and facilitator of the Piscataqua Babywearing Group. When she’s not talking birth or babywearing, you can find Alyssa cooking delicious meals with her two wonderful daughters and amazing husband.

Teresa has worked as a birth doula since 2005 and has been certified by DONA since 2012. She taught HypnoBirthing classes from 2014-2017 before enrolling in the BACE Childbirth Educator Training Program. She became a BACE-Certified Educator in July 2018 and is now a full time birth doula and childbirth educator, serving English and Spanish speaking families. Teresa is delighted to serve non-traditional families and birthing individuals from all walks of life. She is now offering a combined prepared/ natural childbirth class series at Beantown Babies in Roslindale as well as privately. Teresa is now pursuing certification as a Lactation Educator with CAPPA and hopes to be offering lactation classes and support groups soon. She is the mother of two.
Lindsay Wolff is a practicing certified doula and childbirth educator and founder of Birthing Matters Doula Services/co-founder of Beantown Babies. Lindsay carries with her a deep respect for research and prides herself in staying up-to-date on current literature in the field of maternal care. She believes that each individual’s journey, including that of partners, is unique and should be supported with love, care, and informed and shared decision making. She is excited to offer classes and workshops that are normalizing of all individual’s stories and that are LGBTQIA+ affirming.
